DIBRUGARH: Overnight rain has left several areas of Dibrugarh in Assam inundated, with Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya School Road and Mancotta Road among the worst affected.

The city's inadequate drainage system has exacerbated the situation, leading to severe waterlogging.

Residents of Dibrugarh town in Assam woke up to find most of their roads submerged, a recurring issue in low-lying areas that the district administration has yet to resolve despite years of similar incidents.

The busy Mancotta Road was particularly hard-hit, with a 300-meter stretch near the newly constructed flyover from the Chowkidinghee side resembling a rivulet, with water levels reaching up to knee height.

In response to the flooding, Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr Saikat Patra was seen directing workers to clear drains clogged with garbage, in an attempt to alleviate the waterlogging.

“The Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya School Road and Mancotta Road were submerged due to overnight rain. The persistent problem of waterlogging in these areas is due to the poor drainage system in Dibrugarh,” a concerned citizen said.
