Assam: One dead, one critical after mini truck hits pedestrians

Guwahati: One person was killed while another was injured in Dhubri, Assam after being run over by a mini truck on Tuesday.

As per reports, the deceased was returning home after casting his vote.

The accident took place in the Salkocha area of Chapar, Dhubri.

Locals on the site alleged that the vehicle, a Tata 207DI (identified from visuals) bearing registration number AS27C3885 was being driven very rashly and was also speeding.

The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and ran over the two people who were walking through the sidewalk.

Of the two, one person died on the spot while another received critical injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Dumba Nath and the injured as Bhelo Nath.

The police have seized the vehicle and detained the driver.

Investigation regarding the accident is being carried out.
