Assam migrant labourer goes missing from train in Tamil Nadu
North Lakhimpur: In yet another case involving the disappearance of a migrant worker from Assam in South India, a man from Lakhimpur district’s Dhakuakhana sub-division has reportedly gone missing while travelling by train to Tamil Nadu.
The missing person has been identified as Prabhat Das, a resident of No. 2 Bantow Gaon in Dhakuakhana. He boarded the Vivek Express (No. 22504) from Dibrugarh on February 28 this year, heading to Tamil Nadu for work.
According to family members, Das reportedly got down at Katpadi Junction railway station on March 3 but never returned to his coach. The train reaches Katpadi Junction at around 5:10 am on the fourth day of its journey and halts for about five minutes.
Since then, there has been no information regarding his whereabouts. His anxious family members have appealed to authorities and the public for help and any information that may lead to locating him.
Earlier, several migrant workers from Assam have reportedly gone missing while travelling on the Vivek Express at different stations in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, including Katpadi Junction. In a number of such cases, the victims were later found dead under mysterious circumstances.
