Assam: Man alleges wrongful detention by police in Rangia on Facebook Live

Rangia: A man detained at the Tulsibari police station in Kamrup, Assam has accused the police of wrongful arrest and corruption in a Facebook Live video.

Sonjyoti Das claimed that the police wrongfully detained him in connection with a dispute in which he was not even present.

He said that his wife was assaulted by two individuals and accordingly he came to the police station to file a complaint.

However, he claimed that instead of launching a probe the police pushed him into a lock-up alleging wrongful detention.

He stated that the police "took money from the people who assaulted his wife" and targeted him instead.

Das also said that he was detained despite no FIR or complaint on him.

There has been no official statement in connection with the incident.
