Assam: Life-size bronze statue of Homen Borgohain unveiled in Dhakuakhana

North Lakhimpur: A life-size bronze statue of Homen Borgohain, one of the greatest litterateurs of the twentieth and early twenty-first century Assam, was unveiled at his native Dhakuakhana in Lakhimpur district on Sunday.

Constructed by the Homen Borgohain Trust, the 12-foot-high statue was unveiled by local MLA Naba Kumar Doley on the occasion of the 93rd birth anniversary of the late author, journalist, and intellectual.

A public function was organised for the occasion, which was attended by Amarjyoti Choudhury, retired Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University and renowned scholar, scientist, artist, and visionary thinker, as the chief guest.

Eminent writer and musician Anjanjyoti Choudhury, poet Anupama Basumatary, and Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah also attended the function as guests of honour.

The president of the Homen Borgohain Trust, Dimbeswar Gogoi; secretary Sebak Chandra Chutia; and commissioner of Dhakuakhana sub-district, Apurba Kumar Nath, also attended the inauguration.
