Assam: Illegal timber mills busted in Bongaigaon

Guwahati: The forest department in Bongaigaon, Assam has raided a timber mill that was allegedly being run illegally.

As per reports, the forest officials conducted a successful raid on the alleged illegal timber mills operating in Matraghola.

This raid targeted hidden operations that have been functioning unchecked for a significant period.

The raid resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of wooden poles and processed timber, estimated to be worth Rs 2.50 lakh.

The wood is suspected to have chopped down illegally and an investigation has been initiated in connection with the raid.

No arrests were made till the filing of this report but the mills have been seized and locked down by the forest department.
