GUWAHATI: Badruddin Ajmal, the chief of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), has ignited a controversy by criticizing Congress leader and Assam MP Gaurav Gogoi for participating in a Namaz ceremony during recent Eid festivities.

Ajmal suggested that Hindus would no longer support Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, while Muslims would not be influenced by what he called Gogoi’s ‘theatrics’.

The AIUDF chief’s remarks have stirred controversy, with him stating, “very good, Gaurav Gogoi is a Muslim now and no Hindus will vote for him”.

He accused Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi of engaging in “political theatrics”, claiming that his actions would not sway Muslim voters either.

Ajmal further commented that “his acting skills are highly appreciable, but it is in vain to woo Muslim voters, as they can’t be fooled by such tactics”.

These comments were made during an election campaign event in Nagaon, where Ajmal urged Muslims not to vote for Gaurav Gogoi, alleging that his participation in the Eid Namaz was merely a political manoeuvre.
