Assam: Guwahati airport achieves ZWL platinum status with over 99% waste diversion
Guwahati: Assam’s Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport (LGBIA) has earned the prestigious Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL) Platinum – Class I Rating, marking a major step in its green initiatives.
The airport recorded a waste diversion rate of over 99.9 per cent and implemented the 5R framework, which includes Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle, and Recover, across its operations.
The airport’s efforts were evaluated under criteria that measure diversion of waste from landfills as part of the ZWL certification process.
With this recognition, LGBIA joins Trivandrum, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Lucknow airports under Adani Airports Holdings Limited (AAHL) that have reached this level, reflecting a collective commitment to eco-friendly operations.
Additionally, the airport has attained Level L3 traceability for its processed waste, showcasing a reliable and transparent system for handling discarded materials.
