Assam: Gautam Barua concludes Tenure as Director of IIIT-Guwahati
Guwahati: Professor Gautam Barua has completed his term as Director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Guwahati in Assam.
Professor Barua's association with IIIT-Guwahati dates back to its inception in 2015, initially serving as a Mentor Director before assuming the role of Director.
Prior to his tenure at the IIIT-Guwahati, Professor Barua held prominent positions at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, where he joined in 1995, coinciding with the institute's establishment.
Notably, he served as Director of IIT Guwahati for a decade, from 2003 to 2013.
Throughout his career, Professor Barua has been deeply involved with various educational institutions in the North-East region, particularly central institutions.
He has held chairmanship positions in the boards of esteemed institutions such as NIT Silchar, NERIST Itanagar, and CIT Kokrajhar.
Additionally, he contributed significantly to the governance of institutions like Manipur University, Sikkim University, Cotton State University, and NIT Agartala.
Noteworthy is his tenure as Director with additional responsibilities at NIT Silchar for two and a half years.
