Assam: Five under-trial prisoners escape from Morigaon District Jail

Guwahati: Five under-trial prisoners reportedly escaped from the district jail in Morigaon, Assam on Thursday night.

Reports stated that the accused were all under trial in a case related to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

They were identified as Saifuddin, Ziarul Islam, Nur Islam, Mafidul, and Abdul Rashid.

They allegedly broke the bars of the cell they were in. After this, they escaped from the cell and they scaled the jail wall with the help of some clothes.

The police have launched an investigation in connection with the incident.

A man hunt has been initiated to trace the suspects.
