Dibrugarh: A fire broke out on Saturday in the Duliagaon Pathar area of Assam's Duliajan rapidly spreading across a large open field. Thick smoke was reported as the fire advanced, raising concerns among residents due to the proximity of industrial facilities.

The nearby LPG plant of Oil India Limited was not affected. Local sources noted that the flames came close to the facility, but no damage was reported.

On receiving information, Oil India's fire and emergency services responded promptly. Two fire tenders from Oil India, along with one from Assam Gas Company Limited, were deployed to the site. Firefighters, with assistance from local residents, worked for an extended period before bringing the fire under control.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire spread quickly, influenced by dry conditions. Residents in the area remained cautious due to the nearby industrial infrastructure.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and authorities have stated that all possibilities, including deliberate action, are being considered.

The incident has prompted a review of fire safety and monitoring protocols near oil and gas installations in Duliajan.
