Guwahati: A police team in Gohpur, Assam intercepted a night service bus and seized six fake golden boat-shaped objects weighing over eight kilograms on Friday night.

The operation, based on specific intelligence inputs, led to the detention of 10 passengers for questioning.

A bus, named 'Rishan', was stopped near the Howajan police outpost, and upon thorough inspection, the fake gold items were found in six luggage bags.

The driver and co-pilot claimed that the six passengers who boarded from Laluk in Lakhimpur were carrying the bags, but no one claimed ownership when questioned by the police.

The detained passengers are being interrogated, and it is suspected that they were involved in smuggling the fake gold items.

The driver and co-pilot have denied any involvement, stating that they were unaware of the contents of the bags.
