Assam: Ex-government employee arrested for accepting Rs 1500 bribe

Guwahati: A former government official has been arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti Corruption in Darrang, Assam on Wednesday on charges of bribery.

As per reports, the accused has been identified as Tapan Nath, a former Lot Mandal.

Nath was arrested from the Hotel Titan, located near the Circle Office in Dalgaon of Darrang, Assam.

He was caught accepting Rs 1500 from a person.

He, however, had demanded Rs 5000 from the person who had reached out to the police for help.

The accused had allegedly demanded the money to help the person with some documentation work.

An investigation has been initiated to trace his accomplices. It is further being checked how a former government employee can still be engaged in certain internal activities.
