Assam: Eight policemen hospitalized after consuming "poisonous" mushrooms in Dhemaji

Guwahati: At least eight Assam Police personnel fell severely ill after they ate some unknown wild mushrooms in Dhemaji.

The incident occurred at the camp belonging to the 22nd APBn in Panbari, Dhemaji near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

The personnel experienced severe vomiting and dizziness following the mushroom ingestion.

They received initial treatment at a local medical facility, but their condition worsened, prompting their transfer to Dhemaji Civil Hospital.

One personnel is reportedly in critical condition and has been admitted to the ICU for intensive care.

Investigating to trace the source of the "poisonous" mushrooms is being carried out.
