Assam: Drunk driving accident injures three at Sarthebari

Pathsala: Three people, two women and a man, sustained injuries after their vehicle overturned in Sarthebari in Assam's Barpeta district on late Saturday night.

The incident occurred as a group of six, including young men and a woman, were returning from the Barpeta Doul Mohotsav.

According to locals, the group was allegedly heavily intoxicated, resulting in the driver losing control of the vehicle, which then skidded off the road and overturned. All six occupants were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The incident has sparked public concern regarding the prevalence of drunk driving and reckless behavior during festive occasions.

Residents are calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to curb such incidents.
