Assam: Dibrugarh Municipal Board upgraded to Corporation

DIBRUGARH: The Dibrugarh Municipal Board (DMB) in Assam, the oldest civic body, was officially upgraded to the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC), announced Assam urban development minister Ashok Singhal.

This significant development was declared in Dibrugarh, Assam with Singhal highlighting the municipality's historical significance and the anticipated boost in development.

Dr Saikat Patra was honored as the inaugural Mayor of the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation.

The DMB, established in 1873, holds a prominent place as one of the oldest municipalities in Northeast India.

Ashok Singhal said, "From today, the Dibrugarh Municipal Board(DMB) was dissolved and upgraded to Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation(DMC)."

"Within 3-4 days the notification will be come out. DMB is one of the oldest civic body and we have upgraded it as Municipal Corporation and from now more development will be happen in Dibrugarh," Singhal said.
