Assam Congress MP Abdul Khaleque withdraws resignation from party
GUWAHATI: Assam MP Abdul Khaleque has reversed his decision to quit the Congress party following a meeting with Sonia Gandhi.
Earlier, Khaleque had tendered his resignation from the Congress citing various reasons, primarily blaming the party’s leadership.
Senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP from Barpeta constituency in Assam, Abdul Khaleque, held discussions with former Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Wednesday (March 20).
This meeting took place a day after Abdul Khaleque met Congress general secretary KC Venugopal in Delhi, subsequent to his resignation from the party.
Following his meeting with Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in Delhi, Lok Sabha MP from Barpeta constituency in Assam, Abdul Khaleque, stated: “I met Madam Sonia Gandhi for discussions. I have full confidence and trust in her.”
“…Kharge ji and Rahul ji are working diligently to change the anti-people BJP government,” Khaleque added.
