Guwahati: The General Secretary In-Charge of Assam Congress, Jitendra Singh Alwar, has resigned from his post with immediate effect.

He took the decision following the recent election results, which he described as disappointing.

In his resignation addressed to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, he said he takes full responsibility for the party’s performance in the elections.

He noted that despite sustained efforts, the party was unable to meet the expectations of the people of Assam.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the role and thanked the party leadership for their trust during his tenure.

He also acknowledged the support and affection received from Congress workers, leaders, and the people of Assam.

Reaffirming his commitment to the Congress party, he said he continues to stand by its values and vision and remains willing to contribute in any capacity the organisation considers suitable.
