Assam Congress accuses Nagaon SP of "hobnobbing" with BJP, writes to CEC
Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has written to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) through the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam accusing certain police officials including the Superintendent of Police in Nagaon of being biased.
The Congress alleged that Superintendent of Police Swapneel Deka and Officer-in-Charges of two police stations, Sanjib Kumar Roy and Biku Barman were hobnobbing with the ruling party (BJP), compromising the fairness of the upcoming bye-elections in the Samaguri constituency in Nagaon.

In the letter, the Congress claimed that On October 15, 2024, a convoy of Indian National Congress MLAs was attacked by ruling party "goons".
They added that despite meeting with the Superintendent of Police and lodging FIRs, no action was taken.

The Congress further accusing the police officials of being biased requested their transfer to ensure a free and fair election.
It may be mentioned that Sanjib Kumar Roy is the Officer-in-Charge, of Rupahi Police Station and Biku Barman is of Khatowal Police Station.
