Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma mocks Rahul Gandhi, calls him Congress’s bad luck
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday addressed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while campaigning in Siwan district of North Bihar.
“Wherever Rahul Gandhi goes, the Congress faces challenges,” Sarma said on the sidelines of an election rally.
“If Tejashwi Yadav had contested alone, he might have won a few seats. But when Rahul Gandhi enters the campaign, the dynamics change. If anyone wants the BJP to perform well in a constituency, they can consider his presence in their calculations,” he said.
Sarma stated that there is support for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar this time. “In Assam, many people from Bihar are saying that this election could favor the BJP and Janata Dal (United),” he said.
The Assam chief minister also referred to historical and religious figures while speaking about Hindu identity and nationalism. “If Aurangzeb had not been highlighted, would the Ram Temple in Ayodhya have been built?” he asked. “To maintain awareness about Hindu identity, people must remember events linked to figures such as Osama bin Laden and Ajmal Kasab. Today, the Babri Masjid site has become the temple of Lord Ram,” he added.
The upcoming Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases, on November 6 and 11, with results scheduled for November 14.
The contest is primarily between the ruling NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, and the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan, which includes the Congress, CPI(ML), CPI, CPM, and the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).
Sarma is scheduled to hold multiple campaign events across Bihar throughout the day as part of the NDA’s election campaign.
