Assam CM meets Nirmala Sitharaman, praises union budget 2024
New Delhi: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Wednesday (July 24), met with union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
In the meeting, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma commended finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman for delivering the union budget 2024.
Following the meeting, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his admiration for the budget’s focus on job creation, youth empowerment, women empowerment and support for small businesses.
CM Sarma stated, “This budget has an unprecedented focus on jobs, yuva shakti, nari Shakti and small businesses.”
Discussing his meeting with the union finance minister, CM Sarma mentioned that Sitharaman reassured him of comprehensive support for Assam as outlined in the union budget.

“Finance Minister has reassured that all support as announced in the union budget, will be extended to Assam to help build a flood resilient economy,” he said.
Additionally, the Assam chief minister highlighted assurances regarding the resolution of royalty issues from hydrocarbon industries in the state.
“We have also been assured that all issues pertaining to royalty from hydro-carbon industries in the State will be settled at the earliest,” the Assam CM stated.
Sarma also shared that he offered suggestions to enhance the capacity building of Assam’s chemical and hydrocarbon industries during the meeting.
