Assam: Class 9 student beaten to death by classmates in Sipajahar
Guwahati: A class 9 student died after allegedly being beaten by a fellow schoolmate(s) in Sipajhar of Darrang, Assam on Monday.
According to reports, the incident occurred at Padumpukhuri High School in Sipajhar on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Bhabesh Deka, a resident of Senapati Para in Darrang district.

He collapsed in the classroom following the altercation and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
However, despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to the injuries.
His family claimed that Bhabesh told them that he had been threatened by some youths the day before.
However, it is not yet certain if those involved were his classmates.

A teacher from the school stated that after the second period, they heard a commotion and found Bhabesh unconscious.
"We tried to revive him with first aid, but he remained unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but due to his critical condition, he was referred to Mangaldai Civil Hospital", the teacher said.
The police were informed and an investigation has already begun.
