Assam receives an additional Rs 3,552 crore in tax devolution from the Centre, with CM Himanta Biswa Sarma thanking PM Modi.

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday welcomed the Union Government's decision to release an additional Rs 3,552 crore to the state as tax devolution, saying the allocation would accelerate infrastructure development and strengthen Assam's long-term growth.

Sharing the announcement on X, Sarma thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Centre's continued support to Assam. He said the additional funds would enable the state government to step up investment in infrastructure projects, improve resilience and drive overall development.

The Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her continued support in advancing the state's development priorities.

According to Sarma, the additional tax devolution reflects the Centre's commitment to supporting Assam's infrastructure expansion and sustainable economic growth.
