Assam: BTC to begin appointing teachers for 984 primary posts from January 22
Guwahati: The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in Assam has decided to begin the appointment of teachers to 984 vacant posts in lower and upper primary schools, a major announcement made by Education Department Executive Member Rabiram Narzary after the BTC’s winter session concluded on Wednesday.
Narzary confirmed that the Finance Department has already cleared the proposal, enabling the recruitment process to move forward. A dedicated selection committee has been set up, and the council plans to start issuing appointments from January 22 next year.
Once the primary-level recruitment is completed, the BTC will release another notification for 901 vacant positions meant for graduate and postgraduate teachers. According to Narzary, an expert committee will oversee this phase to ensure the process remains transparent and unbiased.
In addition to the recruitment updates, Narzary also addressed the long-pending issue of regionalizing BTC’s non-regionalized schools. He revealed that the council is preparing its own legislation to bring these schools under regional administration. Discussions with the Assam government are underway to exempt BTC areas from the amended Assam State Regionalization Act.
However, Narzary warned that such a move would only be practical if the Assam government ensures sufficient financial support. Without adequate funding, he cautioned, the BTC’s education system could face severe difficulties.
