Assam: Bharat Narah resigns as chairman of Congress' media cell
Guwahati: Congress MLA Bharat Narah has stepped down from his position as Chairman of the Congress' Media Cell in Assam.
The move reportedly was following his wife Rani Narah being denied the Lok Sabha ticket from Lakhimpur.
It may be mentioned that earlier on Sunday, the Congress party issued the ticket to Uday Shankar Hazarika, a former BJP leader who switched sides last December.
The announcement was made by the Central Election Committee of Congress along with the names of candidates for Manipur and Mizoram.

Scheduled for the first phase on April 19, the Lakhimpur constituency is set for a showdown between Hazarika and Baruah.
The Congress, contesting 13 out of 14 seats in Assam, had earlier announced candidates for 12 seats on March 12, withholding the nomination for Lakhimpur until now. Additionally, the Congress has extended its support to the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate Lurinjyoti Gogoi in Dibrugarh.
