Assam: AJP president condemns Red Fort explosion, calls it a barbaric terror attack
Guwahati: Following the deadly explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Monday evening issued a strong condemnation of the terrorist attack, describing it as a “barbaric act that has left the entire nation in deep sorrow.”
“In this challenging hour, all citizens must stand united in the spirit of humanity and love for the nation. Terrorism has no place in India; we reject it completely. We stand with Delhi and with peace,” Gogoi emphasized.
Taking to social media, Gogoi wrote that he condemned the heinous act in the strongest terms, expressing heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.
He stated that this gruesome incident has deeply pained every citizen of India and that, in these difficult times, people must come together with unity, compassion, and patriotism to defeat the forces of terror.
Gogoi ended his message with the hashtags #WeStandWithDelhi #SayNoToTerror #PeaceAndUnity #PrayForDelhi #StopTerrorism.
The explosion near the Red Fort occurred around 6:52 pm on Monday when a slow-moving Eco van stopped at a red light in the crowded Chandni Chowk area and exploded with massive force. The blast resulted in ten deaths and left several others injured.
Multiple vehicles were destroyed, streetlights were shattered, and debris was scattered across nearly 150 meters, causing panic and chaos in the area.
Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and National Security Guard (NSG) rushed to the site for forensic investigation, while Delhi Police, along with central and state agencies, launched a joint probe into the cause and motive behind the explosion.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the situation and directed authorities to ensure the safety of the national capital.
AJP chief Lurinjyoti Gogoi’s statement reflects a collective voice of solidarity from Assam, as people across the country unite to declare that India stands strong and terrorism will never win.
