Assam: Affidavit deadline on Zubeen Garg death probe extended to Dec 12

Guwahati: The Judicial Commission probing the circumstances of renowned singer Zubeen Garg’s untimely death has extended the deadline for submitting affidavits by 21 days, setting the new cut-off date to December 12.

The previous deadline of November 21 marked the end of the initial submission period. However, in response to multiple requests and the high volume of pending affidavits, the Commission approved the extension to ensure that all relevant individuals and stakeholders can participate fully.

The Commission is tasked with investigating the events surrounding Garg’s sudden demise and examining whether any negligence, foul play, or procedural lapses contributed to his death.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has escalated its inquiry by sending two bags belonging to the late singer for forensic testing. Sources revealed that the bags—a trolley bag and a handbag—were seized from Garg’s Kahilipara residence during a search operation on Saturday. Authorities transferred both items from the CID office to a forensic laboratory for detailed examination.

Investigators noted that Garg had reportedly carried these bags during his recent trip to Singapore. They hope the forensic analysis will provide critical leads in the ongoing investigation.
