In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, AASU sought urgent government intervention to prevent what it described as a potential crisis in higher education.

AASU expressed concern over the research component in the fourth year.

It stated that most colleges lack the infrastructure, qualified supervisors, and academic environment required for undergraduate research.

It said that clear guidelines have not yet been issued by the authorities despite the ongoing transition.
