Guwahati: At least 40 people across three villages in Majuli, Assam were hospitalised on Saturday due to food poisoning.

According to reports, all the persons had consumed prasad during a local event in the district.

The people affected by food poisoning belonged to the Janani Sonowal, Randhanichuk and Marituni villages.

They have been admitted to a local hospital in Kamalabari for treatment.

An investigation has been initiated in connection with the incident.

All the patients are being monitored by the medical teams to ensure that no one's condition turns out to be critical.
