Assam: 4.1-magnitude earthquake hits near Dhekiajuli; tremors felt in Bhutan
Guwahati: Assam experienced a 4.1-magnitude earthquake on Thursday evening, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported.
The tremor struck Assam’s Dhekiajuli town at 6:30 PM, with its epicentre located 14 km from the town.
Tremors were felt across several parts of Assam, including Guwahati.
The quake was also felt in neighbouring Bhutan.
Earlier in the week, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit central Assam and other parts of the Northeast at 4:17 AM on Monday, with its epicentre in Morigaon district at a depth of 50 km (26.37° N, 92.29° E).
No injuries or damage were reported, though residents across districts on both sides of the Brahmaputra felt the tremors, including Kamrup, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Cachar, Dhubri, Darrang, Sonitpur, and Lakhimpur.
