Three students from National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar in Assam are feared missing after falling into the Boulsol waterfall.

Silchar: Three first-year students from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar are missing after reportedly falling into the Boulsol waterfall in the Harangajao village of Assam’s Dima Hasao district on Saturday afternoon.

Police reported the incident around 2 p.m., and a search operation is currently underway involving local authorities and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

The students were part of a group that had traveled approximately 55 km from the NIT Silchar campus for a Saturday outing.

According to local witnesses, the incident occurred when one female student allegedly slipped and fell into the water, and two others fell in while attempting a rescue.

An official from NIT Silchar confirmed the missing persons are students of the institute. The Dean of Students’ Welfare, S. S. Dhar, stated that an institute team is heading to the site, though the students' identities have not yet been officially confirmed.

The Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) for Dima Hasao district, Farukh Ahmed, confirmed that SDRF teams from Haflong and Silchar are arriving to assist.
