Assam: 11.9% air passengers use DigiYatra at LGBIA Airport, number to increase
GUWAHATI: As many as 11.9 per cent of air passengers in Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati, Assam now started using the Digi Yatra app for a paperless boarding facility for air travel.
The Digi Yatra, a mobile application-based facility conceived to achieve contactless, seamless processing of passengers at airports based on Facial Recognition Technology (FRT), was first launched in the airport on August 20, 2023.
“Though initially, passengers used the service less, in this recent week DG Yatra's use has increased to 11.9%,” an official of LGBIA said here on Wednesday.

“The number is expected to increase further in the coming days,” she said.

Notably, DG Yatra services are currently available at the departure gate no D-10 and D-7 at the entry into the terminal. The facility is also available at all boarding gates. Digi Yatra, an industry-led initiative co-ordinated by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has been introduced in 12 airports of the country.
“With the new Digi Yatra process, Passengers will no longer need to show their tickets/ boarding passes and their physical Identity cards at many of the checkpoints at the Airport, since the ticket/ boarding Pass is integrated with the Identity document,” she added.
80% of passengers in Varanasi and 20% in Delhi have already used this facility. We hope that the majority of passengers in the Northeast will also use this facility shortly
