ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet has sanctioned a series of measures aimed at bolstering the healthcare sector.

These include the allocation of 39 additional faculty positions at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Arunachal Pradesh’s sole medical college, to accommodate an expanded intake of MBBS students, raising the capacity to 100.

Furthermore, the cabinet has endorsed the establishment of a deputy drugs controller's role within the Directorate of Health Services and the formation of two highway circles in Itanagar and Jairampur in Arunachal Pradesh.

Acknowledging the importance of the ‘Gaon Burah’ (village head) institution, the cabinet has given the green light for the appointment of 36 ‘Gaon Burahs’ across various districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

Additionally, it has approved the renaming of several government institutions in honour of individuals who have made significant contributions to socio-economic development.

In an effort to preserve and promote indigenous languages and dialects, the Arunachal Pradesh cabinet has also sanctioned the notification of 23 local languages and dialects spoken by constitutionally recognized tribes of the state as a third language.
