Akhil Gogoi slams Assam govt over foreign woman harassment at Post Malone concert
Guwahati: Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi on Wednesday criticised the Assam government and police, demanding the immediate arrest of those who allegedly harassed a foreign woman during American rapper Post Malone’s concert in Guwahati.
Gogoi condemned the perpetrators and described the incident as a ‘very serious’ disgrace to the state and the country, stating, “Which Assamese or which Indian touched a foreign woman at the Post Malone concert? Arrest those miscreants at once!”
He elaborated, "We have seen on social media that a foreign lady was physically assaulted at the Post Malone programme. She has alleged it clearly. The Assam Government and police must take immediate action. The miscreants must be punished.”
The allegation was first made public by Southeast Asian traveller and Instagram creator Emma (@discover_emma) in a widely circulated video post on December 9.
Emma and her friend Amina were allegedly repeatedly groped and harassed within minutes of entering the VIP mosh pit area at the December 8 concert held at Khanapara Veterinary Ground.
