Assam: Youth held for attempting to murder ex-girlfriend in Guwahati

Guwahati: A youth was arrested by the police in Guwahati, Assam for allegedly attacking and attempting to murder a 21-year-old woman on Friday.

According to reports, the accused has been identified as Bikas Deka, a resident of Baihata Chariali in Kamrup.

The woman he attacked was allegedly his ex-girlfriend.

They recently broke up and hence Bikas was furious about the fact that they were no longer together.

The victim had also, according to the accused, decided to move on to a new relationship.

Keeping with the grudge, the accused allegedly attacked the woman with a knife attempting to kill her.

She sustained severe injuries to her abdomen and neck.

However, she was rescued by locals and was admitted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

The incident took place near the Hatigaon area of Guwahati.

He was later apprehended by the police from the spot, a local told media.

Further investigations are being carried out by the police.
