Assam: Woman killed in hit-and-run on highway in Guwahati

Guwahati: A woman was killed after being run over by an unidentified vehicle in Guwahati, Assam on Sunday night.

As per reports, the incident occurred on the highway near Lalunggaon, close to Lokhra in Guwahati.

She was reportedly hit by the vehicle as she was trying to cross the street.

She suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene before any medical help could arrive.

A case has been registered at the Gorchuk Police Station regarding the incident.

A police source said that they are investigating the matter and are trying to trace the vehicle responsible for the incident.

The source added that it is hard to say who is at fault. Since it is a highway, the vehicles are found to be at high speeds and people need to be careful while crossing it.
