Assam: Woman dies while crossing railway track in Pathsala station, locals demand FOB

Pathsala: Crossing railway tracks has claimed many lives every year in this country. One such tragic incident happened in Pathsala when a woman was killed while crossing the railway track at Pathsala railway station.

The deceased has been identified as Anima Devi a resident of Pathsala town in Bajali district.

Eyewitnesses claimed that she was killed while crossing the railway tracks at Pathsala railway station.

As per the law, the authorities can take action against people crossing railway tracks at the station.

People primarily use this railway track as a short cut and earlier also many people have risked their lives by doing so.

Locals alleged, there are no restrictions imposed by the authorities on people crossing the railway tracks.

No official of the Railways Department or the GRP keeps a check on the situation in Pathsala railway station.

Locals say that authorities should give fencing near the station.

Moreover, they are also demanding a foot-over-bridge (FOB) near the Pathsala railway station.

Commuters have to wait for hours at the railway level crossing near the Titka area every day as the crossing gets closed frequently due to the movement of the trains as the Pathsala Jinaram road connects huge areas of Sarthebari, Nalbari, Barpeta and many more.
