Assam: Two nabbed with 5.7 kg of fake gold in Guwahati

Guwahati: Two men were arrested with six "fake" gold pieces in Guwahati, Assam on Friday evening.

According to sources, the arrest was made by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam Police.

Based on inputs, the police launched an operation at a house in the Kerakuchi area of Guwahati, Assam.

During the operation, the police found two suspicious persons.

On checking them, the police found six pieces of fake gold weighing 5.7 kg.

Three mobile phones were also recovered from the suspects.

The accused were identified as Sohidul Islam (23) and Ainul Hoque Choudhury (30).

Both the accused were both residents of Lakhimpur in Assam.

The police said that they are currently investigating their role with the gold.
