GUWAHATI: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), tasked with investigating the APSC recruitment scandal in Assam, summoned 30 examination inspectors on Monday to provide their statements.

This scandal, relating to the CCE 2013 exams of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), prompted the formation of the SIT following the submission of a report by retired Justice BK Sarma.

Out of the summoned inspectors, five, namely Bipul Gogoi, Abhijit Bora, Bhupendra Talukdar, Anjan Sharma, and Jyotiraj Pathak, appeared before the Crime Investigation Department (CID).

They are expected to scrutinize disputed answer sheets as part of the investigation.

In January of this year, the Assam government submitted an affidavit to the Gauhati high court detailing the extent of the APSC scam.

The affidavit disclosed that five officials implicated in the scandal had been arrested, while 25 others had been suspended.

Additionally, 42 officials are slated to undergo departmental inquiries, following recommendations from the Justice (retd) Biplab Kumar Sarma commission report.

The scrutiny intensified particularly for officials from the CCE 2013-14 batch, amidst revelations that several gained their positions through illegitimate means.
