Guwahati: A 16-year-old student died on Sunday night after succumbing to injuries owing to a lynching incident in Bongaigaon, Assam.

Iyasin Ali passed away on Sunday night due to severe injuries sustained in a mob-lynching incident in Abadi village, Bongaigaon district.

The altercation began over a stray goat belonging to Iyasin's father, Gazir Ali, which had wandered into a neighbouring farm, owned by Alam Ali. Despite an initial resolution, tensions escalated later that evening when Iyasin was confronted by Alam Ali and his companions while on his way to tuition.

The situation rapidly deteriorated into a violent attack, drawing in more individuals, including Iyasin's family members, who were also injured.

Iyasin was hospitalized with grievous injuries and later referred to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on July 28.

Iyasin's father and locals are demanding a thorough investigation and severe punishment for those responsible.
