Assam: Guwahati railway station gets rail coach restaurant

Guwahati: To provide a unique dining ambience to rail passengers, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) has been opening rail coach restaurants at its major railway stations and points including Guwahati, Assam.

A novel dining experience has pulled into Guwahati railway station with the launch of a rail coach restaurant. This initiative is capturing the attention of travellers seeking a unique culinary encounter.

Decked up with paintings, warm lights and comfortable seats, the newly launched rail coach restaurant at the Guwahati railway station will relish regional flavours and other Indian delights too.

Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, the new rail coach restaurant promises to provide a unique ambience for food lovers. People can enjoy with their family and friends to have an ecstatic feeling while getting the experience of dining in a train coach.

There will be facilities to buy food, snacks and beverages at the rail coach restaurant. 

As of now, 14 such rail coach restaurants are operational in the entire NF Railway’s jurisdiction. 62 locations under the NF Railway have been selected for the introduction of such rail coach restaurants.

The Guwahati railway station is one of the most important railway stations in the entire Northeastern region. The new rail coach restaurant aims to cater to the needs of passengers and the public apart from generating non-fare revenue for the Indian Railways.

This initiative of the NF Railway is also expected to create employment for both skilled and unskilled workers.
