Guwahati: An Assam Police team in an operation in Karimganj district on Sunday, arrested three suspected drug peddlers with a huge haul of Yaba tablets.

The operation took place on National Highway 6 in Badarpur, where police based on specific inputs, intercepted a vehicle.

On checking the vehicle, the police found a secret compartment containing one lakh Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 30 crore.

The arrested persons, identified as Ashraf Ali, Abdul Hannan, and Pradeep Das, all residents of Katigorah in Cachar district, were allegedly attempting to transport the drugs from Mizoram to Patharkandi in Assam.

The suspects are currently in custody at Badarpur Police Station, a report said.

Further investigation regarding the nexus is being carried out by the police.
