Assam Police seize heroin worth Rs 4.5 crore, nabs 4

Guwahati: The Assam Police on Sunday apprehended four persons and seized a consignment of narcotic drugs worth approximately Rs 4.5 crore from their possession.

Based on a tip-off, a team of police intercepted a vehicle at the Chewali Beel area in Karimganj district of Assam.

During a thorough search of the vehicle, 48 plastic soap cases containing 548.82 grams of heroin were recovered from its secret chambers.

The police soon apprehended the four occupants of the vehicle, and seized the narcotic substance along with the vehicle.  

The vehicle, bearing Mizoram registration number, was coming from Mizoram side when it was intercepted by the police.

Meanwhile, the police have initiated necessary legal action.
