Assam: Police recover "suspicious devices" after ULFA-I bomb threat
Guwahati: In response to the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent's (ULFA-I) claim of planting bombs across 19 locations in Assam, the state police conducted searches and found "suspicious articles" at multiple sites.
Assam DGP GP Singh said that the bomb disposal squad safely neutralised the said devices, which were found to contain circuits, batteries, and unknown substances but no ignition device.
The items are now sent for forensic examination.

The searches were prompted by ULFA-I's declaration of an "armed protest" on Independence Day, which was thwarted due to "technical errors."
The banned outfit had released a list of targeted locations, including eight in Guwahati, and photographs of some bomb sites.

DGP GP Singh confirmed the discovery of suspicious articles in Guwahati, Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, Nalbari, and Nagaon, and announced the initiation of investigations.
Further investigations are being carried out.
