Guwahati: The Assam Police on Tuesday (August 27) during a joint operation with military intelligence recovered eight rifles, including an assault rifle with magazine, from the Sudempur jungle area under the jurisdiction of Kachugaon police station in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Gyanendra Pratap Singh in a post on microblogging site X said the operation was a follow up to the recovery of another cache of weapons on July 23 this year.

On July 23, the Assam police in a joint operation with military intelligence had recovered 11 country-made rifles from Kokrajhar’s Dakshin Galajoda area.

Later, DGP Singh wrote on X that the operation was in continuation against hidden weapons from the “dark days of militancy,” and such operations would continue to “scour the entire state and remove all vestiges of militancy.”
