Assam: POCSO accused convicted to life imprisonment in Bongaigaon

Guwahati: A special court in Abhayapuri of Bongaigaon, Assam has found a man guilty of sexual offences against a minor and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Ashabul Hussain was convicted under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for crimes committed in 2018.

He was arrested in June 2018 and released on bail shortly after.

The trial, which lasted several years, involved extensive evidence presented by the prosecution, said reports.

However, after nearly seven years, he was convicted and sentenced to life with a fine of Rs 50 thousand.
