Pathsala: In a significant breakthrough in the Bajali murder case, Assam Police recovered a hidden pistol and ammunition following an interrogation of the prime accused.

The accused, Monohor Ali, currently in a 10-day police remand, revealed the location of the concealed weapon during questioning on Tuesday. Acting swiftly on this information, a police team searched the designated area under the Taltall Railway overbridge near the Dumuria area, with the entire operation documented through videography and witnessed by bystanders.

This search led to the recovery of a 7.65 factory-made pistol and two matching calibre rounds, which were seized following proper legal procedures.

The case, already under investigation for murder and related offences, now has substantial material evidence to support the suspected motive – a land dispute between Ali and the victim, 33-year-old businessman Ibrahim Ali, a police official said.

It may be mentioned that Ibrahim Ali was brutally murdered on June 1st while returning home with his mother, Shahera Khatun, in the Dhumarpur area of Assam's Bajali district.

The attack, captured on CCTV footage, also left Shahera Khatun severely injured. Police apprehended Ali and four other suspects believed to be accomplices just two days later from a Guwahati hotel.
