Assam: One dead, two injured during elephant attack in Goalpara

Guwahati: Another incident of man-elephant conflict was reported in Goalpara, Assam on Tuesday night as a man was trampled to death by an elephant.

According to reports, one person was killed while two women were severely injured after being attacked by an elephant.

The deceased was identified as Gajendra Barman.

He was attacked by an elephant near the Ambari area of Lakhipur.

Two others of his family, Tulsi Barman and Sonmani Barman were also severely injured.

While Gajendra did not survive the attack, the two women were rescued by locals and both are under medical observation.

The elephant was reported to have strayed into the village in search of food and attacked the family as they attempted to chase it away.
