GUWAHATI: The two minor schoolgirls, who went missing from Guwahati in Assam, have been rescued.

The two missing minor Guwahati schoolgirls were rescued by the police from Tihu in Nalbari district of Assam on Thursday (February 15).

The two schoolgirls, studying in eight standard at the Panchadeep Jatiya Vidyalaya, went missing from Noonmati locality in Guwahati city of Assam on Wednesday (February 14) amid Saraswati Puja celebrations.

Earlier, the Assam police had suspected the role of human traffickers in the disappearance of the two minor schoolgirls identified as Madhusmita Baishya and Bandita Bhowmik.

In fact, the police had reportedly identified two youths, who were suspected to be involved in the disappearance of the two minor schoolgirls from Guwahati, Assam.

The two accused youths have been identified as Rahul and Mithun.

According to reports, while Rahul hails from Nalbari district, Mithun is a resident of Nagaon district in Assam.

Notably, both the accused youths have been arested.

The two minor schoolgirls, who went missing had reportedly known both the youths from before.

Both the schoolgirls are stated to be aged around 13-14 years.
