Assam: Minor killed after being run over by truck in Nagaon

Guwahati: A minor girl was killed after being run over by a tipper truck in Nagaon, Assam on Friday.

According to reports, the incident took place in the Sunariguri area of Kampur, Nagaon.

The minor, identified as Nahid Afrin was killed after being run over by the truck loaded with sand silt.

The tipper truck, bearing registration number AS02DC3691, struck Nahid Afrin after the driver lost control of it.

Locals alleged that the truck was speeding and also blamed the police for not monitoring such heavy vehicles plying in the area.

Immediately after the accident, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

Some of the enraged locals also vandalized the truck and refused to hand the vehicle to the police unless the driver was arrested, reports stated.

In another incident, a school bus with around 50 students met with an accident in Margherita of Tinsukia, Assam.

It was reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to some technical issues and crashed into a wall followed by a tree.

The bus was ferrying students of a private school.

However, no student or occupant sustained any serious injuries.
